The school was established in the 1950's by Mrs Hill. Upon her retirement the school was taken on by her daughter, Elizabeth Lewis (nee Hill). Mrs Lewis then retired in 2006, and the school was taken over by Sheila Price.
Sheila moved here from Kent after running her own school in Tonbridge for over twenty years. Many of Sheila's ex pupils are now in ballet companies and musical theatre productions and more recent past pupils have gone onto full time Ballet or Dance & Drama schools throughout the U.K.
Sheila teaches Classical Ballet in the Cotswolds using the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Sheila is a registered R.A.D teacher and pupils are entered for R.A.D Ballet examinations.
Sheila lives with her husband John and their two beloved Cockerpoos, Darcy and Finty. All three of Sheila's daughters teach at the school.
Charlotte (Charlie) Fleetwood is the youngest of Sheila's three daughters.
Charlie and her husband Todd have two boys, Otto and Monty, who both attend Ballet, Modern and Tap classes at the school.
Charlie started teaching at a young age alongside her mother. After having her own family she began training as a primary school teacher whilst working as a teaching assistant. Charlie missed teaching ballet and living near her mother so when the opportunity arose for her to move to the Cotswolds she jumped at the chance!
Charlie has been our baby and preschool ballet teacher since 2016 and also acts as our school administrator. She also runs our junior dance and drama holiday workshops and dance themed children's parties.
Charlie is a patient teacher and has a very gentle approach with our youngest pupils. As a mother of boys she thoroughly enjoys getting her 'pink' fix at her classes!
When Charlie is not teaching she enjoys country walks with her family and their Labrador 'Peanut'.
"I have a passion for teaching children and believe that every child is unique. I feel honoured to have a job where I can truly celebrate my pupils' individuality"
Teacher of Ballet, Modern, Tap, Contemporary, Adult Ballet and Adult Tap.
In addition to the above, Beccy provides performance opportunities for the older students through musical theatre and dance workshops; her most recent project is the Youth Ballet which will perform Cinderella at the Chipping Norton Theatre in March 2019.
Beccy started her dance training with her mother at this school and went on to train at the Royal Academy of Dance and The Centre Performing Arts College. She now has over twenty years’ experience as a teacher and choreographer at various schools in and around London to include London Boys’ Ballet and Arts Educational Schools.
Many of Beccy’s former pupils are now professional dancers either on tour, in the West End or abroad in shows such as Cats, War Horse, Grease, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables. Others have toured with dance companies such as the Richard Alston Company.
But Beccy’s true passion is not only to train dancers, but to also create a love of music and dance in all her pupils. She wants to introduce youngsters to the pleasures of dance and encourage the many skills it can bring; creativity, self-expression, teamwork and commitment.
‘My aim is to create an environment where teenagers and young people have the confidence and motivation to really explore the art form allowing them to build on their emotional and physical strength. I really want to encourage them to find the inspiration to take ownership of their progress and enhance their training on an individual level. These are really important life skills regardless of the professional path they take beyond their school years.'
